I play Baritone saxophone in two Big Bands; Crescendo and The Big Swing Band. It is good fun musically and socially.  Crescendo plays one concert a month in Tewkesbury and The Big Swing band plays a ‘gig’ about once every 10 weeks or so.

I have been the vocalist for the Big Swing band for the past 3 years

I play Baritone sax for The Big Swing Band and love the variety between working with the rhythm section to support the piece and blasting out the occasional improvised solo.  I have also been the vocalist for the past 3 years singing pieces in the style of Nancy Wilson, Ella Fitzgerald and hopefully a few of my own interpretations as well.

The Band plays Glenn Miller and Count Basie favourites from the golden era of swing mixed with later works and arrangements of pieces by the likes of Jazz Jamaica.

Based in Gloucestershire the Crescendo Big Band is a 16 piece band with full line up of saxophones, trombones, trumpets and rhythm.  The band plays the best of swing from the past to the present.  Alongside new arrangements written specifically for Crescendo, the band plays all the time honoured classics by Count Basie, Glenn Miller , Duke Ellington. The lead Alto Chair is held by the  incredible : Pete Tantrum.  Band members are all from Gloucestershire,  a mixture of professional and semi-pro players.

We annually play for the Brixham Heritage festival,  have a summer Jazz picnic evening in Hillfield Gardens, Gloucester and in the Cotswold's (most recently Coln St Aldwyn) and a Christmas Concert at the Stroud Subscription rooms.
